Graham Packaging, a global leader in the design and manufacturing of innovative and sustainable plastic packaging solutions, was recently honored with a 2019 Sustainability Award from the Business Intelligence Group in the Sustainability Leadership (Organization) category. Graham was the only packaging company to receive an award in this category. Other recipients included Bridgestone Americas, Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation and The Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine.
“The role of sustainability is becoming more prevalent in most organizations, but these nominees have provided everyone with a leadership standard we can all model,” said Maria Jimenez, chief nominations officer, Business Intelligence Group. “We are so proud to reward and recognize all of our winners and finalists, as they provide the leadership and vision needed to protect our environment.”
“Since its founding nearly a half century ago, Graham Packaging has consistently looked for ways to be more sustainable through innovative packaging solutions and industry-leading recycling efforts,” said Mike King, chief executive officer, Graham Packaging. “This award shines a light on our ongoing efforts in supporting a circular economy. We are honored to be recognized along with other companies who are contributing to a more sustainable planet.”
The award comes on the heels of Graham Packaging’s release of its 2018 Sustainability Report, which outlines its past, present and future initiatives to be a solutions provider for sustainable packaging and an advocate for the circular economy, which aims to minimize waste while maximizing resources.
